There is so much to explore in Hamburg. Getting around the city in your rent a car will give you the flexibility and time to experience as much as possible. Locals and tourists alike flock to the Hamburg DOM, held three times per year. The fun fair is held in the St. Pauli district and features rides, food and attractions. Entry is free and there are fireworks displays on Friday nights. If you are a Beatles fan, you might want to drive to Beatles-Platz in the St. Pauli district, which features statues of the band-members in a plaza designed to look like a record album. There are also more than a few Beatles-themed tours, including one that includes ukulele renditions of their songs.
The Museum Mile in runs from the Kunsthalle at the north end to the Deichtorhallen at the south. The Kunsthalle is made up of the original red brick museum and a newer, modern gallery building. The permanent collection offers a comprehensive view of European art and there are special rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The Deichtorhallen has open steel and glass architecture and exhibits contemporary art and photography. You can buy a pass for the Kunstmeile, which allows you entry to these the Bucerus Kunst Forum, Kunstverein, and the Museum for Kunst and Gewerbe.
